Fabolous wants Shyne on New Album

25 Feb

With all of the mixtape talk surrounding Fabolous, people seem to have forgotten about the album he plans to release. The new mixtape is supposed to be the preview to his album, Loso’s Way 2. This is the album that Fabolous hopes will end up making him a household name. He said this in the past about other albums, but he wants this one to be special.

With everyone leaving Def Jam, left and right, Fabolous is one of the only remaining New York rappers on the label. Looking to rebuild what the label was created on, Def Jam went out and signed Shyne to a multi-album deal. In the past, Shyne and Fab have worked together on the mixtape scene. When Shyne was released from prison, Fabolous was one of his biggest supporters.

Now that Shyne is out of prison and is on his label, Fabolous hopes to land a high-profile collaboration for Loso’s Way 2. His album sales have dropped significantly since his debut album and he feels that working with Shyne could improve his fortunes. Even though they are on the same label, the chances of them recording together are very slim. Shyne cannot get into the U.S. or the U.K.

DJ Khaled explains dropping Shyne from “Victory”

25 Feb

When the official track listing for the new DJ Khaled album, Victory, was released, a track featuring Shyne and Kanye West was notably missing. Some assumed that the controversy surrounding both rappers led to Khaled deciding against having them on his album. After all, Kanye West was rumored to have beaten up another person at the airport and Shyne was denied entry into England.

The music that DJ Khaled makes is drama free. Khaled often says that he represents unity and fun. One thing that he never represents is confusion, which is what their situations were. If that was truly the case of why they were removed from DJ Khaled’s album, he had cost himself a lot of fans. There are some people already tired of Khaled, so a backlash was building.

Just as things were starting to look bad for the Def Jam South CEO, he has come out to explain himself. DJ Khaled said that the reason that the track that featured Shyne and Kanye West was left off of the album was because it was leaked to the internet. He had wanted the track to be classic, so it could not be leaked ahead of schedule. But, the fact that it was ruined everything, so he left it off of the album. DJ Khaled says that he has no problems with either Shyne or Kanye West.

DJ Khaled is supposed to release Victory on March 2, 2010 on Terror Squad and E1 Music.

Shyne breaks ground on New Album

25 Feb

Last fall, Shyne was released from prison after serving eight years. Upon his release, he had hoped to return to making music. While he has done that, he was sidetracked when he was deported. Despite being removed from the United States, there are a lot of American record labels that want his services.

After the success of Shyne’s last album, Godfather Buried Alive, from behind bars, hip hop learned just how marketable he could be. The album came as a release on Def Jam. He left Bad Boy during the time when a lot of Diddy’s artists were trying to bolt for Def Jam.

The deal that Shyne had in place with Def Jam was a one-album deal. So, after the release of the album, he had no label. Because he had worked with Irv Gotti for the bulk of that album, people assumed that he would sign there once he was released. But, Shyne has also proved to be good friends with many other artists, including Busta Rhymes and Game. Both of those rappers have labels.

While Busta Rhymes said that he went to Belize in support of Shyne, he owns his own label, Flipmode Records, which has yet to produce a star outside of himself. A bidding war did ensue between many rap labels, but recently it was revealed that Def Jam won out. Many tried to write this off as a rumor, but L.A. Reid confirmed this himself. Now that everything is confirmed, Shyne is ready to work on his next album.

Later this year, Shyne plans to release his first album in six years. The album does not have a title, but he wants to release it late in the year.

It’s Official, Shyne is on Def Jam

24 Feb

Since Shyne has been released from prison, there has been a lot of discussion about what label that he would sign with. He began his career with Bad Boy Records, but he would leave the label after he began his prison sentence. In 2004, Shyne signed a one-album deal with Def Jam and released his sophomore album with the label. At the time, Murder Inc. was operating under Def Jam, so Irv Gotti had a lot of input on his album.

With Shyne planning to release a new album as early as 2007, a bidding war began over the rights to the rapper. Many people felt that he would sign with Murder Inc. There have been times when Shyne said that he was a Murder Inc. artist. After all, he is good friends with Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, and Ashanti. He would prove his loyalty to the label when he decided to take on their arch-rival, 50 Cent in their long-running feud.

Despite all of the loyalty that Shyne had shown to Murder Inc., it looked as if he would not end up signing to the label. Last summer, it was rumored that he had signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. It seemed to be a nice fit, only had things gone right. Jay-Z revealed that he had never reached out to Shyne about joining the label. However, he said that he was more than interested in having him on the label. There were then rumors of Shyne signing to Game’s label.

More recently, that also proved to be nothing more than another rumor. But, there was also talk of Shyne signing with Def Jam. Unlike everything else said about Shyne and his label situation, this appeared to be more concrete. After all, Shyne did release his last album with Def Jam and he experienced great success. When it was revealed by L.A. Reid that he has signed Shyne to the Def Jam label that he runs, it came as no true surprise.

Shyne returns to Def Jam with Million Dollar deal

17 Feb

For a little while, it appeared that Shyne could not catch a break. After eight years of being in prison, he was finally released. Not long after he was released from prison, he was given only a few days to leave the country. It turned out that he was not a legal citizen of the United States, so he was deported.

Things seemed to be on the upswing for Shyne for just a little while. After returning to Belize, he received a visit from Busta Rhymes and Game spoke on his behalf. DJ Khaled had even invited him to appear on his upcoming album, Victory. The small winning streak from Shyne would be halted from there. Those turns of events ended up being the last good news for Shyne for a little while.

Because he had been banned from the United States, Shyne decided to record his music in London, but he was not allowed to enter the city. Shyne was not given much time to lick his wounds after DJ Khaled’s track list appeared and his name was removed from it. On top of everything else, Shyne had been cut from Victory. Now, it appears that things are looking good for Shyne, once again.

There have been plenty of rumors about Shyne’s label status for some time. He released his last album with Def Jam, but he formed a strong relationship with Murder Inc. during that time period. When it was revealed that he had only a one-album deal with Def Jam, many assumed that he would sign with them. But, Shyne decided to take some time off and when he returned, it was revealed that he had a close relationship to Game and Black Wall Street.

Last summer, there were rumors of Shyne signing to Roc Nation, those rumors proved to be false after Jay-Z came out and denied them. Now, it has been revealed that Shyne has landed a $1 million deal with Def Jam. Unlike his last deal, this one is long-term. Recently, Def Jam has been struggling and they feel that they could rebuild with an artist like Shyne on their team. As it stands, Shyne is working on an album, but it has no release date set or a title.

Shyne denied entrance into the United Kingdom

6 Feb

After serving eight years of prison in New York State, Shyne was finally released last October. He had hoped to leave prison and begin working on his new music. However, upon his release, it turned out that he was not a United States citizen. Shyne was given fifteen days to leave the nation. The rapper returned to his native country of Belize. Despite being removed from the U.S., most of his music is being handled by American producers.

Since he cannot get back into the United States, Shyne decided to enter the United Kingdom. A lot of American producers and artists frequently visit the U.K. Because of this, Shyne felt that he could go there and lay down more tracks for his upcoming album. A few days ago, the first song he created in almost six years was released.

To make the flight over to London, England, Shyne boarded a plane in Cancun, Mexico. Upon landing in London, he was denied entrance into the city because of some issues with his travel documents. The wait to enter America or the United Kingdom will have to last a little longer as it appears that Shyne’s next album will be handled mainly in Belize.

DJ Khaled says Shyne will appear on “Victory”

21 Jan

Every year, DJ Khaled comes out with an album that features collaborations from all of the heavy-hitters in hip hop. It has become a tradition to hear a posse cut featuring the top acts in the game all on one song. Aside from the big names, his albums also feature stars from years past.

Of all of the DJ Khaled albums, the most notable one is We The Best. The album is noted for the appearances from Miami’s top two emcees, Rick Ross and Trick Dady, along with introducing the world to an unknown Plies. What a lot of people fail to realize is that this album was released the same year that Ja Rule had planned to release The Mirror.

Aside from the introduction of Plies and the guest spots featuring Trick Daddy and Rick Ross, the album featured a new Ja Rule track. Paying homage to his 2004 hit, “New York,” Ja reunited with Fat Joe and Jadakiss for his planned single, “New York Is Back.” While the comeback from Ja Rule failed, the song was hailed as a classic and We The Best created a new movement.

With 2009 came the return of many old names. Among those names were Shyne. Dating back to 2001, he had been in prison for an incident in a New York nightclub. Due to good behavior, Shyne was released from prison two years early. Immediately following his release, Shyne was  deported. Before his deportation, Shyne announced that he was going to appear on DJ Khaled’s new album.

Seeing how DJ Khaled works with a lot of artists, no one doubted a possible collaboration between the two artists. Initially, DJ Khaled had to beg artists to appear on his albums. The increasing popularity of his albums have led to a lot of artists begging him to be on his albums. Some artists even jump the gun and announce their appearance on the album without first talking with Khaled.

More and more frequently, many artists are doing this, but DJ Khaled has confirmed that Shyne is not one of them. Coming later this year will be the fifth studio album from DJ Khaled, Victory. Among the many collaborations on the album will appear some new verses from Shyne. He has been confirmed on a track called “All My Life” that features Movado and Akon.

Shyne is working with Scott Storch on New Album

29 Dec

There was a time when the future of hip hop was pointed in Shyne’s direction. One bad decision led to the rapper spending the next two years in court. Following those two years, the rapper spent eight years in prison. Overall, Shyne ended up losing ten years of his life. Still, he managed to release an album during that time period.

While in prison, Shyne did record and release Godfather Buried Alive, but after that album, he was still in prison. It has been five years since the release of that album. Due to the fact that Shyne reached out to other rappers while he was still a rising star, they all supported him. As recent as last month, he was giving advice to Game. There has never been a rapper quite like Shyne.

The biggest reward that he received in the past few years was on October 6, 2009, when he was released from prison. But, seeming to be a bit unable to catch a break, it turned out that Shyne was never a legal United States citizen. Because of that, October 19, 2009 saw Shyne being deported and returned to Belize. For the past few years, there have been many false alarms saying that Shyne was working on new music.

Apparently, he had been working on some new music, but never to make into an album. This was just to keep himself fresh. Now, it is official, Shyne has a label deal with Game’s Black Wall Street and now he has begun working on his third studio album. With production work from Scott Storch, Shyne is back in the studio creating his Black Wall Street debut. Aside from this, he also appears on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album, Victory.

Shyne is working on a New Album

15 Dec

Ever since 2007, it has been rumored that Shyne was working on a new album. It has been widely assumed that he would come out with a new album after he was released from prison. In the time leading up to his prison release, there was speculation about what label that he would sign to.

While he was working on his sophomore album, Godfather Buried Alive, Shyne began associating himself with Ja Rule. For the album, he worked with Irv Gotti and Ashanti performed the hook for his single, “Jimmy Choo.” It was because of this and his feud with 50 Cent that many expected him to sign with Murder Inc.

However, as time went on, it was revealed that Shyne was close to Game. It was said that when he was finally released from prison that he would sign with either Game’s Black Wall Street or Murder Inc. During the summer, rumors circulated that Shyne had signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. However, Jay denied those rumors in September, but said that he would love to sign him.

In the days leading up to his prison release, Diddy said that he had been talking to Shyne and the rapper may return to Bad Boy Records. Those statements were shot down immediately by the Brooklyn-bred emcee. In the end, he signed with Game’s Black Wall Street. The celebration was short-lived, however, as Shyne was deported right after the announcement was made.

Now, back in Belize, Shyne is said to be working on a new album. It is said that he has had some of the top hip hop producers flying back and forth from Belize. Recently, Busta Rhymes paid a visit to Shyne and he has had conversation with Game and a few other rappers. It is possible that they may be featured on this new album.

There is no title nor a set release date for Shyne’s next album. Also, a new single from him is not expected any time soon.

Diddy snitched on Shyne

2 Dec

Back in 1999, right after the release of his debut album, Shyne got into an altercation in a New York City nightclub. It was reported that a gun was fired and it was the Bad Boy rapper that had pulled the trigger. In attendance with Shyne was Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, and his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

Many felt that the entire situation was odd. Some thought that Shyne had taken the fall for Diddy. It was never explained, but right after he was sent to prison, a feud began between Shyne and his former boss. Recently, Shyne was speaking in Belize about what happened. He accepted full responsibility.

Still, when he was preparing for his prison release, Diddy said that he was glad that Shyne was coming out and he said that the two had talked. In response to that, Shyne said that they had never talked. He went on to diss the Bad Boy honcho. The rapper’s recent talk sheds a bit of light on why he and Diddy do not get along.

According to Shyne, it was Diddy who revealed him to be the gunman that night. It turns out that the reason that Diddy and Jennifer Lopez were released from jail was because they turned him in. That, not taking the fall, is the reason that he has an issue with Diddy. Had he not told on Shyne, they would have kept him, too.
