Big Boi readies New Album

20 Jan

Late in 2007, Big Boi began preparing for the release of his solo album. He said that he would release the first single on New Year’s Eve, with an album following in June. For years, Big Boi has been hailed as one of the top rappers in the game. But, the fact that he could never secure a release date with his label led to him falling out of the public eye. The year of 2008 went by without a Big Boi release, but 2009 came with an announcement of him signing with Def Jam.

Before the end of the year, Big Boi denied rumors of him signing with Def Jam. He said that he was still with Sony. While his album was not released in 2009, either, Big Boi did provide curious fans with the title of the album. After a year and a half of waiting, he announced the title of his album to be Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. With this album, he wants to return lyricism back to Atlanta hip hop.

The songs that were leaked from the album in 2008 and 2009 will remain on the album. On this album, Big Boi has worked with many hit producers. This list includes Erick Sermon, Danja, and the acclaimed Just Blaze, among others. Guest vocals will be provided by Mary J. Blige, Raekwon, Gucci Mane, Jadakiss, Ciara, Too Short, and Andre 3000. Big Boi will release Sir Lucious on March 23, 2010 on Jive Records.
