Soulja Boy talks “The DeAndre Way” and becoming the Best Rapper

23 Dec

After releasing two albums on the heels of each other, Soulja Boy has decided to take things slow as he creates his third album, The DeAndre Way. His first two albums were criticized for featuring too many club tracks and not enough lyricism. Some people blame Soulja Boy for the decline in hip hop music.

Due to all of the negative feedback that his music receives from critics, Soulja Boy hit back. He said that he is more than a commercial rapper. The Atlanta rapper said that he does possess the ability to get lyrical, but he chooses not to. Since the critics are coming at him, more and more, Soulja Boy decided to create his third album just for the hip hop heads.

As evidenced by the title, Soulja Boy is going to get very personal on this album. This time around, he is going to do things differently. Usually, he works with a long list of big-name producers for his albums. This time around, he is in the studio doing some beats, himself, as he did with his debut album.

Early in the recording process for The DeAndre Way, Soulja Boy revealed his hopes of working with the likes of Eminem, Kanye West, and Jay-Z. It is unknown the status between himself and Eminem and Jay-Z, but he has been working with Kanye West. Also, Soulja Boy and Snoop Dogg have been working together for a few months.

When speaking of his upcoming album, Soulja Boy said that it will be one of the best albums to come out in a long time. Right now, he is considered as nothing more than an average rapper. Despite his frustrations due to the low expectations, he understands why he is viewed in this light. With his new album, Soulja Boy said that he will be considered one of the best rappers in the game.

During the summer of 2010, Soulja Boy hopes to release The DeAndre Way on Interscope Records.
