Cam’ron is working on “Killa Season 2” album

23 Dec

In 2006, Cam’ron tried to prove that he was a marketable rapper without the help of Roc-A-Fella Records. During this time, he openly addressed his issues with Jay-Z. This led to a feud between the two rappers. With Cam’s first album since leaving the Roc, Killa Season, came a movie under the same title.

Since he was now his own boss and did not have to play the label politics, it was expected of the Harlem rapper to release another album in 2007. At the time, Cam’ron announced the album as a sequel to his 2006 release. During the interviews that he held in 2007, Cam frequently mentioned a follow-up film to Killa Season, with that was supposed to come another album under that title.

Last year was relatively quiet for Cam’ron, usually he releases a new album on even years and 2008 was an even year. In the second half of the year, Cam announced the title of his new album to be Crime Pays. That album was expected to be released towards the end of 2008. New music from Cam began being released to the internet during this time.

Despite the frequent releases of new music, his album was pushed back until 2009. Early in 2009, Cam’ron began making his rounds. He held conversations with many hip hop magazines, not only talking about his new album, but also a sitcom that he was working on. As the album neared closer and closer to being released, Cam’ron halted talks of the sitcom to focus on the album.

Given the fact that he had been away from the game for three years, Cam’ron had initially stated that he would release two albums in 2009. However, his work with other artists and the expansion of his company led to him not being able to release the second album, as planned. This does not mean that he will not be recording another album for next year, though.

Currently, Cam’ron has been releasing new music, left and right. He has plans of recording a new compilation album for next year. Also, there is talk of a new solo album from Cam called Killa Season 2, which is said to be released early next year.
