50 Cent talks Dr. Dre and “Detox”

11 Nov

50 Cent IINow that Dr. Dre’s long-awaited Detox finally appears to be on the way, everyone is talking about it. Currently, all of the production is getting lined up, along with guest appearances. With that comes the content that the album will provide. What type of album will it be?

All of this has been debated upon by hip hop fans and nerds, alike. At one point, Dre said that the album would be a hip hopera. Later, the album was said to be much like a compilation album, promoting the new artists that Dr. Dre has been working with. If the truth was told, it would probably say that no one knows what type of album Detox is going to be, or who is on it.

The only person that truly knows is Dr. Dre. But, 50 Cent knows a lot. As long as 50 Cent has been working with Dr. Dre, this album has been in the works. Early forms of Detox probably featured recordings from Rakim and would have probably featured work from Irv Gotti. Before 50 Cent came around, Irv Gotti and Dr. Dre had worked on some of the same projects. It would have only been a matter of time before they reached out to each other.

But, that never happened and Detox was not released when it was supposed to have been. At one point, the album was supposed to have been released in late 2005, that album would have been heavy with collaborations from 50 Cent, The Game, and G-Unit. But, Dre’s schedule became so busy, he had to take a break from Detox.

He went back to work late last year, but things changed in a lot of ways. Instead of he, Eminem, and 50 Cent being inseparable, there were rumors of Em being too fat to make music and rumors of Dr. Dre and 50 Cent feuding. These rumors only intensified this fall when 50 said some questionable things about Dre. Then, add to that the fact that Dr. Dre soon invited 50’s rival, Game to record with him on the album.

Despite 50 Cent saying all was well between himself and Dr. Dre, the picture did not lie. 50 said that Dre was free to do whatever he wanted to with his album, but he was still going to be on it. Still, some felt that 50 Cent would not have a part in it because Game even returned to Aftermath Entertainment, while 50 Cent has expressed interest in leaving the label. Now that the heat is on, 50 Cent has said that he has been working with Dr. Dre for over two years for Detox and that Game never left G-Unit Records.

No matter what is going on, internally, between 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, he will probably still have some tracks on Detox. 50 Cent would never diss Dr. Dre unless he ends up leaving Interscope Records. So, in the next few months, if there is any friction, it will be revealed.
