Rakim to release “The Seventh Seal” on November 17

13 Oct

RakimAfter a ten year hiatus, Rakim’s next album may finally be coming. In the time between releases, Rakim has recorded with Dr. Dre and was even an artist on Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. An album from Rakim was supposed to have been released in 2002, but that never happened.

The busy schedule of Dr. Dre, then the emergence of 50 Cent, hindered the release of an album from Rakim. As a result, he grew tired of waiting, so Rakim sought for his release from Aftermath.

Now, Rakim has his own label, Ra Records. Being an artist for himself, Rakim can release his music as he feels without having someone holding his work up. Two songs from Rakim are currently floating around, “Holy Are You” and “Walk These Streets” with Maino.

The latest album from Rakim will feature collaborations from Maino, The L.O.X., Busta Rhymes, and Rakim’s own daughter, Destiny Griffin. The Seventh Seal will be released to stores on November 17, 2009.
