Jay-Z and Fat Joe Officially End Long-Standing Feud

1 Oct

Jay-ZA few days ago, history was truly made when Fat Joe and members of his Terror Squad joined Jay-Z on stage and the two crews performed hits. Any followers of New York hip hop are aware of the feud that has been going on between Jay-Z and Fat Joe for years.

While it is unknown how the feud began, it is safe to say that they were feuding. Mainly, Fat Joe handled most of the talking. He has been one of Jay-Z’s biggest and loudest critics. During the height of Jay’s feud with Nas, Fat Joe openly supported Nas, doing a cameo in a few of his videos.

When Jay-Z became the president of Def Jam, artists such as LL Cool J, Raekwon, and Ghostface had nothing but bad things to say about Jay. They were Def Jam artists, but Fat Joe also chimed in on the situation. Many saw Jay-Z making peace with Nas as groundbreaking for hip hop. For Fat Joe, it was nothing but disappointment.

Last year, it appeared that things came to a head when Uncle Murda (now Uncle M) teamed up with Jay-Z for a song going at various rivals. On Jay-Z’s verse, he goes at a lame rapper and his DJ. As many hits as Fat Joe has, many consider him to be corny. Plus, his relationship with DJ Khaled is one of the closest rapper-DJ relationships in hip hop since the early days.

Soon after the record became known as Jay-Z’s diss on Fat Joe, he came out to refute those charges. Jay went as far as to perform a few sets with DJ Khaled in Miami. On his single, “D.O.A.,” he even shouts out Khaled. While he said that he was never dissing Fat Joe, he never said that he and Fat Joe were cool, either.

Last year, Jay-Z made it clear that he had no issues with DJ Khaled; this year he has made it clear that he has no issues with Fat Joe, either. Fat Joe and his Terror Squad camp hosted a set at the Imperial last night. In attendance was Swizz Beatz, who has friendships with both Fat Joe and Jay-Z.

Also in attendance was Jay-Z, who took the stage with Swizz Beatz to perform “On to the Next One.” After a while, Fat Joe and members of his camp took the stage and performed alongside Jay-Z. The two seemed to be enjoying each other’s company. As a result, the longstanding feud between the two rappers has to be officially over.
