Are Diddy and Bad Boy Records moving to Interscope Records?

Bad Boy RecordsThe year of 2009 has been a big one for Bad Boy Records. After years of seeming stagnant, the label seems to be going through a revitalization.

Bad Boy Records has welcomed back The L.O.X., signed Red Cafe, and Jadakiss could sign a solo deal with the label at any time. Now, the label wants to make some moves of its own.

Standing alone, the label is bigger than most record labels, but Sean “Diddy” Combs would rather have Bad Boy as a part of another company than as an independent label. In its history, Bad Boy has been distributed by Arista, Universal, and Atlantic Records.

The deal with Atlantic Records has lasted since 2005, but has not been one of the greatest in the world. Perhaps Diddy is upset because the label is looking for a new president, but they are in talks with Irv Gotti and T.I., instead of him.

Diddy is rumored to be moving the label, which includes Asiam, Cassie, Cheri Dennis, Donnie Klang, Diddy, Day26, Elephant Man, G. Dep, Gorilla Zoe, Jordan McCoy, Janelle Monae, The L.O.X., Ness, Red Cafe, and Mario Winans. The label is also in talks of adding Raekwon, Mase, and Jadakiss to the label.

If they move over to Interscope Records, they will be joining Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, Eminem’s Shady Records, and 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. Interscope Records has more similarities to Bad Boy Records than Atlantic Records did.

If this deal goes through, it would definitely change the landscape of hip hop.
